Detailed Narrative Description of the Project:

     
   

The over all purpose of this project is “To improve access to, and utilization of safe drinking water and adoption of healthy behaviours to control water/sanitation born diseases in the targeted communities of District Chakwal. Mass mobilization techniques through capacity building of the concerned stake holders would help in improving the current situation of WES in the communities. It is further envisaged to adopt the approach by environmental committees for the over all improvement of WES situations in their respective communities.

   

Following comprises the broader initiatives under the proposed project:

   

•  Development of public private partnership for improving the over     all environments through initiating integrated WES package to     access and utilize safe drinking water. Strengthening and     capacity building of local government and other stakeholders.

   

•  Social mobilization, capacity building, awareness raising     campaign for general masses regarding environmental     degradation and hygiene education.

   

•  Ensuring clean and safe environment for the community through     participatory techniques involving children and women in     sanitation promotional programme.

   

•  Reducing high incidence of environmental and specially water     borne diseases, resulting in high rate of infant mortality and     morbidity, also damaging mother health.

   

•  Identification and strengthening of Community Organizations     (CO's) through demand driven process for environmental     improvements.

   

•  Ensure community ownership through community mobilization     and their involvement in project implementation, monitoring and     evaluation.

Safe drinking water and sanitation facilities available through Integrated WES package in 42 communities of District Chakwal

Effective planning and implementation for scaling up of promotion of Health and Hygiene Practices in the targeted communities
