Project Title:   Sanitation, Water, Environment and Technology and Emergency WES Interventions
     
Funding Agency:   UNICEF Peshawar
     
Project Duration:   From June 2003 to December 2006
     
Project Objective:  

Under software activities the project aims to improve the WES facilities and impart necessary skills to teachers and children to result in better learning environment for quality education and for increased retention through behavioral change.
Under hardware activities the project provides primarily in girls primary schools with the facility of hand pumps, toilets and hand washing places. Construction of sewerage system is also part of the project in Town-I and IV area of Peshawar district.
Development of WES Information Software and strengthening of TMAs under LGO 2001 for effective and efficient services delivery.
Unique component of this project is SABAWON has signed an MoU with both the TMAs of Town-I and IV under which they will contribute to the project Rs 4.1 Million which is included in the total cost mentioned above.

Project Achievements:   100 training session organised on hygiene education and sanitation promotion;
Continued school sanitation and hygiene education for girls education's acceleration;
Promotion of participatory urban environmental sanitation improvement through continued social mobilisation and empowerment initiatives;
Development of WES Information Software;
Government officials trained in the effective utilisation of software and updation.
